Hi, I’m Lauren!

On paper and for street cred, I go by lauren Averitt, MA, LCMHC. The fancy acronyms basically mean I worked hard in school to earn my BA in psychology and master’s in Counselor Education. I specialize in helping those who experience anxiety, trauma and self-esteem issues. And that goes back to how i got here in the first place.

Once upon a time (way back In high school), I always felt the need to validate others. I wanted everyone to feel like they had permission to experience whatever emotions they were feeling. I still do. I specifically enjoy working with trauma and anxiety because there is such a surface idea that tends to exist that these conditions only reside inside the brain when the reality is our entire physiology is impacted by our anxieties and traumas. often these things aren’t something we can just make our minds up to “just get over it.” These things take time, practice, gentleness and the space to work with them and let them go.

Let’s take a long drive together, crank up the music and reflect on where you are on the road of life. there may be a few cacti along the way but when we work together, I can help you learn to anticipate them so that maybe you don’t feel stuck along the way. During our sessions, you’ll learn to notice old patterns, pave new pathways and, most importantly, we’ll observe those special moments when after a long drought out comes a beautiful bloom.
